Repair or replace

Most roof problems are one of two jobs: a repair or a replacement. A few missing shingles, a flashing leak, or wind-lifted tabs are a repair. Widespread curling, bald spots, granules piling up in the gutters, or a roof past about twenty years is usually telling you it is time to replace.

We handle both, and we tell you which one your roof actually needs, not the one that costs the most. A typical New Hampshire asphalt re-roof runs about $6,000 to $16,000 depending on size, pitch, and shingle grade. A repair is far less. You get a firm, free number after we are on the roof.

Repair or replace

A roof rarely fails all at once. It gives you signs, and the honest question is whether a targeted repair buys you good years or just delays the inevitable. We look at the age, the shingle condition, and how many problems there are before we tell you which way to go.

Shingles and materials

Asphalt is what goes on most New England homes, and for good reason: it handles our freeze-thaw swings, it comes in architectural grades that stand up to wind, and it is priced for a whole roof. Where a home calls for it, we can talk through longer-life options too.

Signs your roof is telling you something

  • Stains on the ceiling or in the attic after a storm mean water is already getting in.
  • Granules in the gutters are the shingle surface wearing off, the roof aging out.
  • Curled, cracked, or missing shingles let wind and water under the layer that keeps you dry.
  • Ice dams and icicles along the eaves point to ventilation and drainage problems we can fix.

How the job goes

  • Free on-site inspection. We get on the roof, look in the attic where we can, and give you a straight repair-or-replace answer with a written quote.
  • Tear-off or targeted fix. For a re-roof we strip the old layers and check the decking; for a repair we fix the damage and the cause behind it.
  • Underlayment, flashing, shingles. New water barrier, proper flashing at the valleys and penetrations, then shingles laid to spec.
  • Clean-up and gutters. We magnet-sweep for nails, haul the debris, and make sure the gutters carry the new roof’s water away from the house.

Good to know

Roofing questions.

Do you do full roof replacements or just repairs?+

Both. Our crew handles roof repairs, from leaks and storm damage to a handful of missing shingles, and full re-roofs when a roof is past its life. We tell you honestly which one your roof actually needs at the free estimate.

How much does a new roof cost in New Hampshire?+

For a typical asphalt shingle re-roof on a single-family home, most New Hampshire projects land somewhere around $6,000 to $16,000 depending on roof size, pitch, layers to tear off, and shingle grade. A simple repair is far less. These are typical ranges, not a quote; your real number comes after we get on the roof.

How do I know if I need a repair or a replacement?+

A few missing shingles or one flashing leak is usually a repair. Widespread curling or bald shingles, granules filling the gutters, multiple leaks, or a roof past about 20 years is usually telling you it is time to replace. We inspect it and give you the honest call, not the expensive one.

Can you help with storm or ice-dam damage?+

Yes. New England winters are hard on roofs, and ice dams, wind-lifted shingles, and leaks at valleys and flashing are common up here. We repair the damage and fix the cause, including the ventilation and drainage problems that let ice dams form.

Do you fix the gutters at the same time?+

That is our specialty, so yes. Doing the roof and the gutters together means the water leaving the new roof is actually carried away from the house, and you deal with one crew instead of two.
